Cérvoles Celler is the result of Cusiné family personal challenge, founded in 1997 at the small village La Pobla de Cérvoles, endeavouring to find the best plots of Costers del Segre appellation that can provide wines with unique features. This is a large designation of origin that encompasses seven subzones with quite different soils and climates. Cérvoles' 32 hectares are distributed in 10 sectors, placed at Les Garrigues sub-zone, not far from Priorat and Conca de Barberà wine regions. Here vineyards, placed at 750 metres above sea level, enjoy semi-arid mediterranean climate on clay-loam soils with gravels that enhance good water draining of the scarce rainfall. Landscape is absolutely superb and exciting as rivers have created valleys and ravines through years' erosion, which together with climate, is ideal for vine and “Arbequina” olive cultivation.
At its early stages, Tomas Cusiné was the Project leader but some years later he left the property, handing it over to Castell del Remei (Cusiné family) to establish on his own and produce wines in a small village named El Vilosell. However, Cérvoles wines keep generating expectations and receiving the best international critics' reviews. They are certainly wines with personality and outstanding male profile. Grape varieties used at Cérvoles are Chardonnay, Macabeo, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Garnacha.
What do Cérvoles wines taste like? Cérvoles Blanc is a strong blend of smoke, butter, citric, marmalade and thyme. Some time is necessary to get the wine express itself powerful and mellow.
