Buy Wine from Benoît Lahaye
The Benoît Lahaye winery is located in Bouzy, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims region of France. This winery has been an emblem of the Lahaye family since the 1930s, being a reference in the production of Champagne.
Vineyards
The winery owns 4.8 hectares of vineyards, with a predominance of 88% Pinot Noir. These vineyards are distributed in different plots: 3 hectares in the Grand Cru of Bouzy, 1 hectare in Ambonnay (bordering Bouzy), 0.60 hectares in Tauxières and a small plot of 0.20 hectares in Voipreux, in the south of Côte des Blancs, where there are Chardonnay vines more than 50 years old. These vineyards benefit from an exceptional climate and terroir, with soils that bring structure, power and fruitiness to the wines, and with an average vine age of 35 to 40 years.
Philosophy
Benoît Lahaye is characterised by a philosophy of minimal intervention. Most of his wines are vinified in 205-litre French barrels, although he also uses foudres and terracotta amphorae. Lahaye uses indigenous yeasts and does not intervene in the malolactic fermentation process. Furthermore, his wines are neither filtered nor clarified, and minimal doses of sulphur are added. All this careful process aims to highlight the terroir, which is the main protagonist of their champagnes.
Benoît Lahaye's range of champagnes is remarkable for its intensity and maturity, achieved through meticulous work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
