Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
There is also a big jump in quality in the red 2015 Tinto Atlántico, the one that had a more aromatic and showy profile, finery floral and spicy. It is a blend of the local varieties Caíño Longo (quite different) and Brancellao, with a touch of Sousón from one ten-year-old terraced vineyard (which will change in 2016 as they regrafted a 30-year-old vineyard with some more Caíño and Brancellao). The full clusters fermented in oak vats, and the wine matured in used 500-liter oak barrels for some 18 months. The wine had a short evolution in cask and needed more time. It's delicate and fine, with that herbal side to it, with a Cabernet Franc-like touch provided by the Sousón and also a touch of freshness reminiscent of blood oranges. The palate is medium-bodied with a texture dominated by the granite minerality, moderate alcohol and a very tasty finish. 2,760 bottles were filled in April 2017.
