Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Sold as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, as the Ribera del Duero appellation does not allow varietal Garnacha bottlings, the 2017 Garnacha comes from a vineyard planted from a massal selection of the vineyard they use for Celia. In the warm and unusual 2017, this has a deep color and a Mediterranean nose of aromatic herbs and esparto grass, with ripe black fruit—closer to a Priorat than something from Gredos. It also has a lactic note and an earthy touch. It matured in used 400-liter barrels, 50% French, 50% American, for 14 months. 1,900 bottles and 100 magnums were filled in May 2019.
