The pure Moscatel de Alejandría 2021 Pureza was produced with grapes from vines planted in 1943 in the Abargues property he has rented in the village of LLiber, and it fermented with skins for six days to avoid the extreme character from the skins. It's a delicate varietal, with perfume of rose petals, talcum powder and an herbal and citrus touch, fresh and vertical, and it will gain volume (and possibly diesel-like Riesling aromas) with time in bottle. It finishes with a salty and umami touch and a bitter twist. It's 12.5% alcohol and has a pH of 3.2, which talks about very good freshness. 6,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.

Description
Pepe Mendoza Pureza is a white wine that comes from the region of Spain and is made from 100% Moscatel de Alejandría grapes. This wine has its roots in vineyards located in Pla de Llíber, Alicante. Reminiscent of the old white 'brisats' that were produced in the area, Pureza resembles what are known today as"skin contact" or orange wines. These wines are known for their ample, fresh and very mineral character.
Winemaking
The vineyard where this variety is grown is located in Pla de Llíber, Alicante, at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. The soil is clay-ferrous with calcareous stones and the climate is Mediterranean. The grapes are harvested in mid-September, seeking a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. The vinification is carried out in a traditional way, where the must and its skins macerate during the whole fermentation in vats with very gentle hand massages. Afterwards, the wine is refined in small amphorae for 6 months. Before being released to the market, the wine remains at least 5 months in the bottle.
Taste
Pepe Mendoza Pureza gives delicious notes of rose petals, oranges and other citrus fruits. On the palate, it is ample and fresh, exhibiting aromas of chamomile infusion and mineral notes. Although its aroma could make you think it is a sweet wine, when you taste it you discover a surprising body, with a long aftertaste and persistence in the mouth, being a dry wine in every sense of the word. It is recommended to be served between 7 and 10 °C and can be consumed until 2028 if kept in optimal conditions.
