The pure Monastrell 2024 El Veneno was produced with grapes from 45-year-old vines on sandy limestone soils. It fermented with 30% full clusters and matured in used 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. It is serious and a little shy and took time to develop in the glass. Even though the nose is subtle, there are slowly unfurling notes of Mediterranean herbs, thyme and rosemary, and berries and spices. It has length and width, with a fine thread, textured, caressing and balanced, developing notes of pine needles and Mediterranean forest, with a faint earthy touch. It has contained ripeness and 13.5% alcohol with 6.5 grams of acidity and is juicy and round, peachy and velvety, with Mediterranean notes of aromatic herbs. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2025. It is again at the level of the 2021, the last vintage released of this wine.
