Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2024 Tinto was produced with a blend of 70% Monastrell, 27% Giró and 3% Alicante Bouschet. It fermented with 30% full clusters and matured in 500-liter barrels, stainless steel and concrete. It's super Mediterranean and balsamic, with notes of fennel and lavender, and it's refreshing and attractive. The palate is quite fruit-driven and juicy, with mostly Monastrell flavors, and it's fine-boned and harmonious. It has contained ripeness, 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.4. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2025.

Description
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Tinto is a pure representation of the Mediterranean in a glass. This red wine comes from the Alicante region and is a fusion of Mediterranean landscapes from the Alicante subzones. The varieties that make up this wine are Monastrell ( 70%), Giró (25%) and Alicante Bouschet (5%). The Monastrell comes from the garrigue of Alto Vinalopó, while the Giró and Alicante Bouschet come from the balsamic forests of the Marina Alta.
Elaboration
The elaboration of this wine follows the traditional canons of quality. The grapes, carefully selected from vineyards with evocative names such as Abargues, Marina Alta, El Veneno and Los Burros, have an average age of over 50 years and are grown in clay-ferrous and sandy-loam soils. The Mediterranean climate that bathes the region influences the character of the wine.
The winemaking process begins with each variety being harvested separately, seeking the optimum moment of ripeness. Gentleness is key, as the grapes are gently pressed, and fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, incorporating 30% whole cluster for greater complexity.
Ageing is carried out for approximately 12 months in stainless steel tanks, where the wine matures and perfects. Before reaching the market, it spends at least 6 months in bottle, allowing the flavours to meld and reach their full potential.
Taste
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Tinto awakens a sensory feast on the palate. It reveals itself as a dry wine, balanced by a refreshing acidity that highlights its Mediterranean character. The tannins, marked and polished, provide a silky and tasty texture, enveloping the palate with elegance.
The ripe fruit, a constant in this wine, unfolds generously, maintaining its presence throughout the tasting. The body of the wine is firm and well-structured, indicating optimum maturity. The harmony of toast and spice awaken a palette of complex flavours that evoke the essence of the Mediterranean, and the finish, with its lasting intensity, culminates the experience with a treat for the senses.
