Description
Niepoort Nat Cool Copo Alegre is Niepoort's first Nat Cool from Portalegre, making it the only "member of the family" in the Alentejo region. The soils where the vineyard is grown are clay, granite and slate, coming from old vines with an average age of 40 years. The red grape varieties used to make the wine are: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês, Grand Noir, Trincadeira and Cinsault.
Winemaking
Most of the grapes are destemmed at the entrance to the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, ageing takes place in amphorae for 12 months without further extraction.
Taste
Niepoort Nat Cool Copo Alegre is a versatile, uncomplicated wine that will appeal to all palates. It has a lively, concentrated colour with purple highlights. On the nose, aromas of cherry and blackberry mingle with floral notes, complemented by a subtle balsamic touch. On the palate, it offers an elegant structure, good concentration and freshness, culminating in a long, expressive finish.
