Miranius 2023
£14.63 (Inc. VAT bot. 75 cl.) / North Ireland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The super young white Xarel.lo 2023 Miranius is varietal and has lively acidity. Despite the accumulated drought from 2003, 2005, 2015, 2016, 2022 and 2023, they keep working with cover crops to retain humidity in the soil (and avoid compaction, among other things). This comes from multiple vineyards in multiple zones, some from them, some from friends (Toni Carbó, Jordi Arnan...). They harvested early, and the wines have freshness and volume. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in tank. It has a pale and bright color and a clean nose, a naked wine, with notes of white flowers and fruit, fennel and herbs and citrus (orange peel), a very varietal nose. It has a light to medium-bodied palate with volume, textured chalkiness and very good freshness for the conditions of the year. It has 11.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.12 and 4.9 grams of acidity. This is their most important wine, as it represents a very high percentage of their volume. 120,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024.
