Meín Castes Brancas 2023 Magnum
£52.68 (Inc. VAT bot. 150 cl.) / North Ireland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 Mein Castes Brancas is the evolution of the O Pequeño, which has grown with the addition of grapes from plots that used to contribute to the Gran Mein. It is a blend of 63% Treixadura, 15% Albariño 15% Godello, 3% Torrontés, 3% Loureira and 1% Lado and Caíño Blanco. They have changed the label and also the price. It does feel a lot more serious, with a very clean and defined nose, contained ripeness and 12.5% alcohol, reflecting more freshness in a less warm year than 2022. It was produced with the local blend of varieties on sandy granite soils ('sábrego') and fermented and matured in stainless steel. It has a very tasty palate with some herbal notes in the finish and a faint bitter twist. 35,377 bottles produced. It was bottled in the summer of 2024.
