Description
Matthieu Barret Vilain is a young red wine that has been elaborated with the Syrah variety from the northern part of the Rhone Valley region in France by Matthieu Barret at the Domaine du Coulet winery.
The Syrah grapes come from two different terroirs that have an average age of 30 years on average. The first was planted on mostly sandy soils and the second on granitic sands at 400 metres above sea level.
These vineyards have been cultivated using certified biodynamic viticulture techniques and a low-intervention process in the winery.
Winemaking
The grapes were organically and biodynamically farmed and after an early harvest underwent a 15-day maceration in stainless steel tanks before fermentation with natural yeasts in concrete tanks.
The wine is aged for 8 months in a concrete tank. The wine is bottled without fining and with very little sulphur added.

Matthieu Barret Vilain is a young red wine, characterised by its abundant fruity aromas. It is very smooth on the palate, dominating the palate and balanced by silky, well-integrated tannins.
