Description
Matsu El Recio is a wine that perfectly combines youth and maturity, made exclusively with the Tinta de Toro variety. This wine comes from a selection of centenary vineyards, some of them up to 90 years old, located in poor, sandy soils that favour a natural cultivation.
Winemaking
The winemaking process of Matsu El Recio includes a manual harvest followed by a 14-day maceration and spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, using indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in these tanks, and the wine is gently filtered to preserve its natural characteristics. Ageing is carried out for 14 months in second-use French and Eastern oak barrels, which contributes to its complexity and balance.
Taste
The taste of Matsu El Recio is remarkably balanced and full of complexity. In the mouth, it presents a friendly entry and a very well-defined tannic structure, with silky and velvety tannins that provide a pleasant and lingering sensation. In addition, its well-integrated acidity brings remarkable length to the palate. In terms of tasting, visually it stands out for its intense ruby red colour. On the nose, one can perceive tertiary aromas derived from the barrel, with clear notes of vanilla, pastries, cocoa and coconut, which are complemented by the freshness of red fruits, especially strawberries.
