Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Their flagship wine comes from one of the finest vintages in recent times. The 2021 Marqués de Murrieta was previously called the Reserva and still qualifies as such, but it's not included in the name now. It was produced with 86% Tempranillo, 8% Graciano, 4% Mazuelo and 2% Garnacha Tinta from their 300 hectares of vines in their Ygay estate on limestone and clay soils with alluvial influence. The grapes were picked between the 27th of September and the 15th of October, and each plot and variety was vinified separately in stainless steel, matured in American oak barrels for 26 months, then blended and kept in concrete for a few months until bottling, which was a longer élevage this year. It's very spicy, peppery, with a combination of berry fruit and some incipient tertiary aromas, hints of forest floor and truffle. It's very Rioja, with clout, elegance and freshness and the elegant tannins that are the signature of 2021. It comes in at 14.3% alcohol with a pH of 3.6, denoting ripeness and balance. It's delicious, fresh and available. Bravo! This will be released in May 2025. 900,000 bottles produced. It was bottled from May to July 2024.

Description
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Mazuelo and Graciano grapes from the vineyards of the Finca Ygay in the D.O.Ca. La Rioja.
The vineyards surrounding the winery were planted between 1950 and 2000 in an area of 300 hectares, located at an altitude between 320 and 485 metres above sea level.
These vineyards are located on clay-limestone, sandy-loam, gravelly, clay-loam, stony or clay-ferrous soils, among others.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. Once in the winery, after destemming and gently crushing the bunches, the varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks.
At the end of the fermentation process, the solid parts of the grapes are pressed in vertical presses to obtain a greater extraction of the colour and ripe tannins that reside in the skins. Finally, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is aged for 16 months in American oak barrels and 24 months in the bottle.
Taste
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is juicy and rich on the palate. Its tannins go unnoticed due to its perfect integration and its bright acidity. It is a red wine that transports us to the traditional Rioja.
A blend of classicism and modernity.
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a red wine produced by Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta, from the vineyards located in Finca Ygay, in La Rioja Alta.
This fantastic wine is perfect to accompany roasts, roast pork, ham, semi-cured cheeses, baked fish, cod, game stews and grilled red meats, among others.
And you, have you already experienced the sensation of tasting this magnificent rioja?
