The varietal Castelão 2023 Mono C is from a grape not that common in Douro, but it's still allowed by the appellation, as it was part of the field blend in the old vineyards, like many others. This is juicy, tender and tasty, varietal and primary, fruit-driven, with some floral notes. It's fresh and balanced, doesn't show any excess and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. It has fine tannins, and the mouthfeel is quite refreshing.
