La Sombrilla 2022
£45.83 (Inc. VAT bot. 75 cl.) / North Ireland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I tasted the 2022 La Sombrilla, produced with grapes from a plot in the Avia Valley, La Castiñeira, two hectares planted in 1997 on clay, granite and slate soils. It's mostly Treixadura with some 5% Albariño, and 40% of the volume fermented and matured in a 600-liter French oak barrel and the rest in stainless steel. The wine has 12.6% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity for the very warm and dry year. It's rounder and fleshier, a more solar vintage with a tender mouthfeel. 1,274 bottles were filled in March 2024.
