Description

There are wines that speak of their land with a voice of their own, and Flor de Muga Rosé is one of them. This rosé is not just "one more" in the growing category of high-end rosés; it is a pure expression of Garnacha Tinta, a grape that, when delicately worked, gives elegant, fresh and nuanced wines.
Behind this wine is Bodegas Muga, one of the most iconic wineries in La Rioja. Founded in 1932, this family-owned winery has managed to combine tradition and innovation like few others. For this rosé, they have selected vineyards in the Alto Najerilla and Oja Valley, where the vines, 70 to 90 years old, grow in calcareous clay and ferrous clay soils, providing freshness and minerality.
Winemaking
Making a wine like Flor de Muga Rosé is no easy task. It begins with a manual harvest, selecting only the best grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, extracting only the purest and most refined free-run juice. Fermentation takes place in small oak vats and then the wine rests on its fine lees for four months, which gives it that enveloping texture that makes it so special.

Taste

The first thing that strikes you about Flor de Muga Rosé is its pale pink colour, almost ethereal, like the sky just before dawn. On the nose, it is not an explosive or exaggerated rosé; it is rather elegant and discreet, with notes of red fruits, a touch of peach and a touch of white flowers. It is the kind of aroma that invites you to come closer to the glass, as if the wine were whispering a secret to you.
On the palate, the key word is balance. The freshness of its acidity plays with a creamy texture, creating a long, seductive mouthfeel. The flavours evolve in layers: first juicy fruit, then a subtle minerality and, at the end, a spicy note reminiscent of vanilla and cinnamon. It is a rosé with structure, one of those that you can enjoy on its own or with seafood, sushi or even a good pasta dish with light sauces.
In short, Flor de Muga Rosé is not a wine to drink without thinking. It is a wine to savour, to share a good conversation and to discover, sip by sip, all that Garnacha can offer when treated with the respect and patience it deserves.
