The 2023 Saint-Joseph Terres d'Encre opens with an attractive bouquet of dark fruits, violet, licorice and black cherry, combining gourmand appeal with notable complexity. Fermented with remontage and early pigeage to avoid over-extraction, with malolactic fermentation completed in tank before maturation in barrel and entirely destemmed, it’s medium to full-bodied, juicy and dense, offering a structured profile that remains slightly firm at this stage. Compared with the 2022, the tannins are less enveloping, lending the wine greater tension and precision despite a slightly firm texture. It concludes with a long finish that is marked by notes of black olive and spices.
