Description
Comando G Rozas 1er Cru is a unique expression of the Garnacha grape variety that forms the basis of this wine. Hailing from the mountainous region of Sierra de Gredos, near Madrid, this wine is the result of the effort and passion of Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia. The area, known for its simple and inexpensive wines, is also the cradle of ancient and remote vineyards, situated in difficult but impressive terrain.
Winemaking
The winemaking of Comando G Rozas 1er Cru is characterised by a respectful and natural approach. The vineyards, between 50 and 60 years old, are in the process of conversion to organic and are farmed biodynamically. These vineyards are planted on sandy soils derived from granite, slate and quartz, at an elevation of approximately 900 metres. This combination of altitude, free draining soils and a moderately humid microclimate ensures a long growing season, crucial for the development of the wine's character.
The grapes are harvested by hand, usually in October, and fermented with natural yeasts in open French oak vats. Rozas 1er Cru is aged for 10 months in 14HL concrete tanks and a 15HL oak vat, which contributes to its unique profile.
Taste
Comando G Rozas 1er Cru is remarkably aromatic and savoury, noted for its deep minerality and firm tannins. This combination of characteristics gives it an elegance and finesse comparable to the best Pinot from Burgundy or Syrah from the Northern Rhône. The influence of the terroir manifests itself in a surprisingly pale wine, but intensely expressive on the nose and palate, offering a unique and captivating sensory experience.
