Description
Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena, a wine that embodies the biodynamic and radically honest philosophy of the Avinyó family, is born in the heart of the Penedès region. This project, deeply linked to the land and respect for the natural cycles, is a courageous commitment to recovering ancestral viticulture in a region traditionally dominated by Cava. Making a single-varietal Cariñena, without technical make-up or commercial concessions, was a risky decision that today defines the unique character of the winery.
The vines grow on clay-limestone soils with a clear Mediterranean influence. The proximity of the sea brings constant breezes that moderate temperatures and preserve the natural freshness of the grapes. This balance between sun, wind and soil gives the wine a vibrant tension and a marked mineral identity. Here, each cluster is a true reflection of the landscape.
Winemaking
At Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena, the grapes are harvested by hand, with strict selection in the vineyard. The grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts, without additives or corrections, respecting the varietal expression as much as possible. Maceration lasts approximately two weeks to extract structure and depth without losing freshness. Subsequently, the wine rests for 18 to 24 months in large vats and amphorae on its lees. It is not clarified or filtered. Each stage is designed to preserve the primary energy of the Cariñena grape and to accurately convey the character of the terroir in Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena.
Taste
In the glass, Clos Lentiscus Perill Noir Carinyena is a bright ruby red. The nose is intense and frank: fresh cherry, crisp raspberry and a hint of ripe pomegranate. Notes of black pepper, Mediterranean undergrowth and a subtle earthy background add depth. The palate is agile and vibrant, with lively acidity and firm but elegant tannins. The red fruit is expressed with juiciness, supported by a mineral backbone that adds tension and length. The finish is saline, spicy and persistent, leaving an electric, refreshing sensation that invites further drinking.
