Cantos del Diablo 2023

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The single-vineyard Garnacha 2023 Cantos del Diablo is from a plot in a lieu-dit that names the wine, the highest vineyard in the Méntrida appellation, in the village of El Real de San Vicente, a cooler place with better conditions to produce balanced wines and soils with a high content of silt. It has a deeper color than the 2024s I tasted next to it. The plot delivers more of everything, more intensity, more concentration, more opulence. The white soil has lots of quartz stones that give energy. The wine has a sensation of good ripeness, cherry fruit and notes of soy sauce, wild aromatic herbs and a spicy twist. It has a medium- to full-bodied palate with chalky tannins. 1,800 bottles produced. This is released later because it has a longer élevage, two winters in oak barrels of different sizes.
