Can Ràfols dels Caus Sumoll 2023
£27.21 (Inc. VAT bot. 75 cl.) / North Ireland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The bright ruby-colored 2023 Sumoll has a bright nose with reminiscences of rose hip, hibiscus and earth, characterful and with a wild side to it. The wine is lively and has a medium-bodied palate, finely textured, fine-boned and tasty, with a fine thread of chalky tannins, sapid, focused and clean, alive and vibrant. The resilience of the grape is amazing; it has delivered the best bottling of this wine to date. It reminded me of a Poulssard from Jura with a moderate 12.88% alcohol and notable acidity and freshness. 1,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024 after four months in neutral barrels.
