Bertha Mountain is a white wine produced by the Bertha winery in Baix Penedés. This white wine has been crafted from a meticulous selection of grapes, specifically from the Xarel-lo variety. What makes it even more special is that these grapes come from 65-year-old vineyards, extending over 2.5 hectares. These vineyards, located close to the cellars, benefit from a clayey and chalky soil, which gives the wine an exceptional salinity and mineralisation.
From the beginning, special attention has been paid to the vines, with intelligent pruning to ensure the highest quality grapes. In addition, an ecological approach has been maintained, respecting the herbaceous layer and giving priority to the sustainability of the plants. Given the age of the plants, they have been treated with the utmost care.
After manual harvesting and selection in the vineyard, the grapes are frozen before pressing to improve the extraction of the pulp adhering to the skin. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. Finally, the wine undergoes a short rest with the lees for 7 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 6 months of ageing in the bottle.
Bertha Mountain is a unique sensory experience. Its nose presents notes of oxidation, dried fruits, toasted hazelnut, with hints of white fruit and flowers, making it complex and attractive. On the palate, it surprises with a pleasant attack, with an unctuous and acidic texture, leaving a persistent sensation that invites you to taste it again and again.
