Buy Wine from Château Le Pin
Château Le Pin is the jewel of the crown of the Gironde estuary's right bank, in Bordeaux. This estate is hardly 3 hectares of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc on stony and sandy soils. The vines are 35 years old in average. The maison was founded in 1929 by Madame Laubie who sold it in 1979 for 150.000 Pounds to Belgian Jacques Thienpont. Jacques, a peculiar and inquisitive man, belonging to the Thienpont family, the current owners of Vieux Château Certan winery in Pomerol. The winery is close to the centre of the village and is surrounded by the first-class châteaux Trotanoy, Certan de May and Beauregard.
Up to now, many have considered Le Pin wines as the most exclusives and outstanding from Pomerol, its prices even exceeding Petrus, because Le Pin is a wine produced in such small quantities that can afford being absolutely handcrafted and carry out its malolactic fermentation in a few new French oak barrels. This wine is abundant in everything: it is concentrated, delicious, round and silky with textures reminding to the classic bloody mary cocktail. Unfortunately it is not produced all the years, for instance the hot 2003 was left without production, and the most precious Château Le Pin has an outcome of only 7.000 bottles.
