Vetus 2022
£20.83 (Inc. VAT bot. 75 cl.) / North Ireland
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The eponymous red 2022 Vetus comes from different vineyards from a cooler year when they lost 25% of the grapes to frost. The wine is concentrated and ripe at 14.85% alcohol, and it is powerful and generously oaked after 13 months in barrel, 33% of them new; malolactic was also in barrel. It's a powerful, ripe and spicy Toro with abundant creamy oak and a lactic touch. It's full-bodied and has abundant tannins that are quite fine-grained. It finishes dry. Give it a little more time.11,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.
