Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The white 2015 Muga Blanco Fermentado en Barrica mixes the classic white Rioja grapes, mostly Viura with some Malvasía Riojana and small percentages of diverse varieties, including the newer Tempranillo Blanco, Garnacha Blanca, Maturana Blanca, Turruntés... It fermented in new 225-liter oak barrels where it was kept in contact with the fine lees from October to February. It has a ripe nose of yellow fruit, sourced from a healthy vintage that produced powerful wines. This wine relies on malic acid to provide freshness and it's a little lower in this year; however, it feels quite lively and does not feel warm at all. In the future, Garnacha Blanca is going to play more of an important role in this blend. Very drinkable and pleasant. 140,000 bottles produced.
