Luis Cañas Crianza 2019
£14.44 (Inc. VAT & Duties bot. 75 cl.) / United Kingdom
This red wine Luis Cañas Crianza is a faithful reflection of the harmony of the vineyards where the grapes come from, located in Villabuena de Álava and neighbouring municipalities in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region.
Luis Cañas Crianza is made from a selection of Tempranillo grapes (95%) and a small percentage of Garnacha (5%).
The vineyards where they come from are located in Villabuena de Álava, Samaniego, Leza, Navaridas, Baños de Ebro, with an average age of 30 years.
They come from clay, calcareous and sandy soils with a yield of 6500 kg per hectare at an altitude between 400 and 700 metres above sea level on slopes. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected on a double table (bunches and berries).
The grapes are converted into must, and after a controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, they are impregnated with the warmth of the oak. Luis Cañas Crianza is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 60% French and 40% American, followed by 9 months in the bottle.
It is a wine that stands out for its red colour, its fruity character and its balsamic notes. In the mouth it is rounded like few others, and elegant like almost no other.
A wine that reflects in its composition the strength of Garnacha and Tempranillo.
This is an excellent wine for those who appreciate classic Rioja wines with a modern twist. It is made with the strength of the Garnacha grape and the predominance of Tempranillo in the wine's composition.
It is agreat choice for everyday drinking. When you enjoy it, it will bring to your mind the reminiscences of the vineyard that gave life to this marvellous and contemporary Rioja red wine.
Gastronomically, it is the ideal accompaniment to meats and stews, as well as for chateo.
