Description
La Planta is a young red wine produced by Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, a benchmark in Ribera del Duero, whose vineyards are located at Finca La Planta, at an altitude of 911 metres above sea level. The vineyards are more than 20 years old, and are located on clay-limestone soils, with the bedrock less than a metre above the surface, which influences the concentration and characteristics of the grapes. The climate is continental, with warm summers and harsh winters, which contributes to the production of high quality grapes and the expression of the Tempranillo variety at its best .
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in 15 kg crates, which guarantees the care of the grapes until they reach the winery. After an exhaustive selection on the sorting table, the bunches are destemmed and placed in stainless steel tanks, where they undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration for three days. Subsequently, alcoholic fermentation takes place during seven days at a controlled temperature of 22ºC. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to French and American oak barrels, where it is aged for six months, acquiring roasted notes and a more complex structure.
Taste
In terms of flavour, La Planta stands out for its structured and meaty character. On the nose, it is a wine of high aromatic intensity, with a predominance of red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, complemented by notes of undergrowth, resins and a slight mineral touch. The oak ageing contributes roasted aromas, which are integrated in a balanced way in the taste profile. On the palate, this wine surprises with its smoothness and freshness, offering an enveloping and balanced experience.
This wine is ideal to accompany a wide range of dishes such as cold meats, medium cured cheeses, fish in sauce and rice dishes. It is recommended to be served between 12 and 14°C.
