The stunning white 2021 Montes Obarenes has to be one of the most elegant whites from Rioja. It's very complete and does not lack ripeness (14.5% alcohol), freshness (3.45), complexity and nuance, elegance and persistence. It has a golden color, a captivating nose of herbs, flowers, spices and pollen, a seamless palate with vibrant and pristine flavors and great precision. It was produced with a blend of 60% Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and 5% each Malvasía Riojana, Calagraño and Garnacha Blanca that fermented separately with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 18 months. 7,463 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.

Description
Gómez Cruzado Montes Obarenes is a white wine made from Tempranillo Blanco, Viura, Malvasía, Garnacha blanca and Calagraño grapes by the Gómez Cruzado winery in D.O.Ca. La Rioja.
The different grape varieties come from the area around Haro and from the vineyard of Laderas de Ollauri. These vineyards were planted in clay-limestone soils, with a high limestone content provided by the Obarenes Mountains in the surroundings of Haro.
Winemaking
To make Gómez Cruzado Montes Obarenes white wine, the grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 200 kg crates. The bunches are selected in the winery, fermented and aged on its lees for 12 months (80% in new French oak barrels and 20% in concrete eggs).
Taste
Gómez Cruzado Montes Obarenes is a creamy white wine with fruity aromas and floral notes. In the mouth it is voluminous and structured with a persistent, light and fresh finish with great potential and acidity.
