Description
The Ginglinger family has been cultivating vineyards in the heart of Alsace for generations, but it was Jean Ginglinger who, faithful to an uncompromising biodynamic philosophy, decided to look beyond the traditional crus. Thus was born Ginglinger Le Paradis d'Arthur Pinot Noir Baumgarten, a wine conceived as a tribute to his son and as a vindication of the hidden potential of the Baumgarten soils: light, chalky and with a sandy base that offers natural drainage and a subtle expression of Pinot Noir. This wine comes from plots worked with absolute respect for biodiversity, without herbicides or systemic treatments. The commitment to authenticity has been risky: Jean has refused official certifications, preferring to let the wine speak for itself, with frankness and energy.
Winemaking
Harvesting for Ginglinger Le Paradis d'Arthur Pinot Noir Baumgarten is done by hand at dawn, in order to preserve the natural acidity and aromatic freshness. The grapes are partially destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, in a slow and spontaneous process, without aggressive thermal control. There is no prolonged maceration or technical intervention; the aim is fluidity, not extraction. The wine rests for a few months in large old oak casks, just enough to refine without marking. It is bottled without excessive filtration, and in some cases, in litre format to favour carefree enjoyment.
Flavour
Ginglinger Le Paradis d'Arthur Pinot Noir Baumgarten is a juicy, lively Pinot Noir without make-up. On the nose, it displays a symphony of red fruits: wild strawberry, sour cherry, crisp raspberry. There is a very slight earthy note, almost undergrowth, which balances the whole. On the palate, the acidity is precise, the texture light but with tension, and the finish, marked by a refreshing minerality. It is a wine to be enjoyed unceremoniously, served slightly chilled, ideal for long evenings and unhurried conversations. An honest red, with immediate joy and a free soul.
