Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 Rauenthal Estate opens with clear, bright and ripe fruit with some pink nuances intertwined with terroir-driven depth and also saline nuances. Rich and lush but elegant and refined on the palate, this is a generous yet precise and stimulating fresh and citric Rauenthaler with a persistent texture and flesh and stimulating bite. Substantial without being heavy, this is rather baroque from a coolish terroir. 11% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

Description
Georg Breuer Rauenthal Estate is a white wine from the Rheingau region, one of the smallest but most prestigious wine growing areas in Germany, with just 3,000 hectares of vineyards. This wine is made exclusively from the Riesling grape, known for its ability to develop complex and elegant aromas on the steep slopes of the river valleys. The grapes used come from vineyards located on the southern slopes of the Nonnenberg and parts of the Rothenberg, where deep phyllite and loess soils provide optimal growing conditions.
Winemaking
The winemaking process focuses on maintaining the freshness and aromatic complexity of the wine, culminating in a beverage that combines fruit and remarkable aromatics with a distinctive mineral character.
Taste
Georg Breuer Rauenthal Estate has an intense yellow colour with green highlights. On the nose, it displays a delicate aroma of pears and dried herbs, while on the palate it offers a structure of intense acidity and an elegant mineral touch. Its silky texture, combined with a slightly spicy finish, makes this Riesling a complex and satisfying sensory experience.
Recommended to be served at 9°C, this wine is perfect with dishes such as marinated salmon, smoked duck cakes, grilled sea bass and fresh, spicy cheeses. With an alcohol content of 11%, residual sugar of 4.7 g/l and acidity of 7.8 g/l, this Riesling not only promises an exceptional taste experience, but also has a cellaring potential until 2032.
In conclusion, the Georg Breuer Rauenthal Estate is a demonstration of the Breuer family's commitment to quality and tradition, offering a wine that encapsulates the essence of the Rheingau terroir and the winemaking expertise accumulated over generations.
