Description
Gaja Darmagi comes from a vineyard planted in 1978, being a tribute by Angelo Gaja to the prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon variety, and a clear sign of Langhe's peculiar expression in wines, even of non-traditional varieties.
Fermentation and maceration last about three weeks, followed by ageing in oak for 24 months.
Taste
Gaja Darmagi is a wine that reveals a broad bouquet that unfolds gradually. It shows notes of cassis and quince, followed by tamarind and a fresh vegetal hint of tomato leaf on the finish. On the palate, it is velvety and juicy, with notes of blackcurrant and fresh plum leading to a spicy finish, such as black pepper and cloves.
