Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The light and easy-to-drink Bobal red 2017 Clos Lojen is a fruit-driven and fresh wine fermented with 100% full clusters in open-top 4,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in 10,000- and 15,000-liter oak vats for seven months. They started harvesting these grapes the 26th or 27th of August. Even if this is quite fruit-driven, especially when young, the soil is always an important component. This feels very harmonious and, compared with the 2018 I tasted next to it, shows how one year in bottle does wonders to this bottling. It's a light and harmonious red with 12.5% alcohol in a warm year in the Mediterranean. This has more structure than you'd think, and it's serious enough to develop in bottle. Great value. 45,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2018.
