Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Of the two vintages of the Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) that I tasted togethe, the 2020 Quest is significantly paler and also fresher, with good ripeness and a contained 13.8% alcohol, keeping good freshness and acidity. It has finesse and a velvety texture with refined tannins and a balanced, clean and harmonious palate with some balsamic, herbal and peppery nuances. It matured in French oak barrels for 18 months, during which time it went through a very slow malolactic fermentation. The bottles are kept for at least another 42 months before they are released. 8,000 bottles and 80 magnums produced. It was bottled in August 2023.

  • 19/03/26 Castell d'Encus Quest 2018 We had Quest 2012 for 2 weeks ago, fantastic wine with power. 2018 was lack of power, too much Merlot?
  • 01/04/20 Quest 2014 Possibly best value red ever. Extraordinary quality at reasonable price. Very balanced style, nice minerality. Fermented in stone makes it a bit special. Look for any wine from this winery.
