Description
Casa Castillo Monastrell wine is a genuine expression of the Jumilla region, standing out for its organic character. This wine is made from 85% Monastrell and 15% Garnacha, two red varieties that reflect the essence of the Mediterranean. The Casa Castillo winery has decided to dispense with Syrah in the coupage of this wine, giving absolute prominence to the Monastrell.
Winemaking
The winemaking process follows a traditional one, treating each variety separately. Afterwards, the wine undergoes an ageing process that lasts between 8 and 10 months in foudres and 500-litre barrels.
Taste
Casa Castillo Monastrell has a cherry colour with violet tones. On the nose, it offers a balance between aromas of red fruit and wild herbs. On the palate, it is perceived as a tasty and easy to drink red wine, with a marked sensation of ripe fruit.
It is a light wine, with light cherry notes and still without roundness, indicating that it has a lot of rest ahead of it. Despite being a young wine, some describe it as light and lacking a defined personality, possibly influenced by the wonder of its older brother, the Viñas Viejas. However, its fresh fruit, green pepper and herbaceous notes make it stand out.
