Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
They do a selection of Garnacha for the 2018 L'Equilibrista Garnatxa, which is a ripe and heady red a little à la Rayas, with 14.5% alcohol and a mellow palate. It fermented destemmed with indigenous yeasts and matured in 2,500-liter tronconic French oak vats for 14 months. It has notes of ripe red berries and flowers and is a little decadent and intense, with a medium to full-bodied palate with fine-grained tannins. 6,200 bottles and 300 magnums produced.

Description
Ca n'Estruc produces this wine on a historic estate at the foot of Montserrat, a landscape with a strong Mediterranean character where the Martí family understood that the vineyard must be tended with respect and precision. The commitment to organic and biodynamic cultivation here is not a trend, but a way of understanding the land. Ca n'Estruc L'Equilibrista Garnatxa is born of this philosophy: a pure Garnacha Tinta, 70% from the estate’s own vines and 30% from carefully selected vineyards in the area, with vines aged between 25 and 50 years planted on alluvial, clay-limestone soils with a presence of gravel. This environment, warm yet breezy, produces a Catalan Garnacha that seeks a balance between ripeness, freshness and texture.
Production
Ca n'Estruc L'Equilibrista Garnatxa is harvested by hand, with the grapes selected in the vineyard. After destemming, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts in 100-hectolitre stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature of between 21 and 28 °C, with daily pumping over to extract colour, aroma and structure. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, also under temperature control. The 14-month ageing takes place in French Allier oak truncated cone-shaped vats, a choice that rounds out the wine without masking the expression of Garnacha.
Taste
In the glass, Ca n'Estruc L'Equilibrista Garnatxa displays a light garnet red colour, already hinting at a Garnacha that is more refined than powerful. The nose combines ripeness and freshness with great naturalness: strawberry, pomegranate, blackberry and a background of Mediterranean herbs, lactic notes and a faint hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is fluid and silky, with juicy red fruit that is not heavy but flows with ease. The tannins form a good framework, adding depth and length without making the wine harsh. The finish is long, fragrant and pleasant, with that blend of fruit, freshness and scrubland aromas that makes it particularly harmonious.
