Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Côtes du Jura La Poirière comes from a warm and concentrated year, from a plot that gives the wine its name in the village of Le Vernois on Trias marl soils. It's a pure Chardonnay aged in topped-up barrels for 12 months with some light bâtonnage. It has good ripeness and development of aromas and flavors, with 13.5% alcohol and a balanced palate. The élevage in oak and the bâtonnage is noticeable in the aromatics, which give it a more Burgundian profile, creamy, leesy and smoky but without excess. It's round and tasty, with oak flavors a little more prominent in the finish. Give it a little more time in bottle. 6,000 bottles were filled in July 2023.
