Winemaking
Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels. Aged for 12 months in old French oak barrels.
Description
Barco del Corneta Prapetisco is a red wine made from the Juan García grape, a native variety from the Arribes del Duero area. This wine is obtained from three plots located in the Prapetisco area of Fermoselle (Zamora).
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in 10-kilo boxes and then transferred to the winery in La Seca, where they are placed in 1,000-kilo stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously, with controlled, slow and gentle extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in used French oak barrels, where the wine is aged for 12 months on its lees. The wine is composed of 90% Juan García and 10% of other varieties such as Rufete, Bastardillo Chico, Malvasía and Puesta en Cruz.
Taste
Barco del Corneta Prapetisco stands out for its cherry red colour with purplish rim, high robe, and thick, fast-falling tears. On the nose, it presents aromas of red and black fruit such as blackberry, blueberry, cherry and plum, accompanied by herbaceous and floral notes such as violet. On the palate, it has a velvety entry with good acidity and ripe tannins. On the palate, fruity touches predominate with floral nuances, making this wine a complex and well-structured experience.
Barco del Corneta Prapetisco is ideal for pairing with red meats and game, and should be served at a temperature of 16°C to appreciate all its organoleptic qualities. Its ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months and subsequent resting in tanks for a further 4 months ensures a perfect balance between structure and freshness. This wine reflects the dedication to organic farming and respect for the indigenous varieties and terroir of the region.
