Description
Nestled in the heart of the O Rosal Valley, the southern sub-area of the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, where the Miño River bids farewell to Galicia amidst salty mists and Atlantic breezes, Bodegas Terras Gauda has forged an identity as powerful as its landscape. Founded with a clear philosophy - to express the soul of its native grape varieties without artifice - this winery has been a pioneer in integrating tradition, innovation and deep respect for its environment. The decision to opt for the coupage of Albariño, Caiño and Loureiro was not a commercial wink, but a declaration of principles: to seek a natural balance between aromas, structure and freshness. The Loureiro, grown in vineyards at higher altitudes and cooler climates, provides a subtle perfume and an airy mouthfeel. The late-ripening Caiño, grown in warm, humid soils, provides depth, balsamic character and vibrant tension. And the Albariño, the backbone of the blend, delivers its aromatic exuberance, fruity notes and seductive volume.
Winemaking
Vinification at Terras Gauda begins with a cold pre-fermentation maceration that allows the aromatic compounds of each variety to be delicately extracted. After this step, each grape is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks, preserving varietal purity and controlling the evolution of each batch to the millimetre. Only when fermentation is complete and the wines have stabilised is the final blending carried out: a precise choreography between science and sensibility. The wine is bottled without oak, keeping intact the direct, Atlantic expression that defines the unmistakable Terras Gauda style.
Taste
From the glass, Terras Gauda offers an aromatic intensity of orange blossom, orange peel and ripe peach, with hints of earth and green tropical fruit. The palate is full-bodied but defined by its lively acidity and a saline minerality reminiscent of wet stone. Dry and persistent finish, with menthol echoes and a saline aftertaste that invites you to repeat.
Perfect with oysters, clams, oily fish or Asian white meat dishes, Terras Gauda seduces those who listen to the voice of the sea in every glass.
