Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Tanuki Bob is a pale and delicate red from the Gallinas y Focas project. It was produced with 90% Mantonegro and 10% Syrah from their young organic vineyards in Palma de Mallorca. It fermented in stainless steel, the Syrah in carbonic maceration, and matured in 4,000-liter oak foudres for six months and 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. 2022 was warm (but not dry, as they got 560 liters of rain), but the wine is fresh for the vintage, with the typical Mallorcan profile of a light color and floral, perfumed and fresh. It comes in at 13% alcohol, with a pH of 3.74, and it's fine-boned, vibrant and fresh, with a medium-bodied palate and fine tannins. 14,000 bottles produced. This was bottled in July 2025.

Description
Tanuki Bob is an exceptional wine that emerges from the 4 Kilos Vinícola winery, located in Mallorca, Spain. This wine, with 90% Mantonegro and 10% Syrah, reflects the richness of the region's indigenous varieties. The name "Tanuki Bob", inspired by the Japanese raccoon dog, symbolises luck and prosperity, reflecting the winery's philosophy of creating wines that invite enjoyment and happiness.
Winemaking
The elaboration of Tanuki Bob is a careful and environmentally friendly process. Vinification is carried out by carbonic maceration, introducing whole bunches of grapes into stainless steel tanks, where they ferment and mature for approximately 9 months. This process does not include ageing in wood, which allows the wine to retain a fresh and fruity character, with a minimal sensation of wood.
Taste
Tanuki Bob is a unique and balanced experience. It has a cherry red colour with a low robe. The nose is intensely mineral, with aromas of red cherries, strawberries and hints of mountain herbs. On the palate, the wine has an entry with good acidity, showing a certain rusticity, but with an elegance reminiscent of a Volnay Pinot Noir. It has an adequate weight without being excessively long, and is characterised by being quite vertical.
This wine is ideal to accompany dishes from the Mediterranean diet, such as pasta and rice dishes, highlighting its versatility and ability to complement a wide range of flavours. The recommended serving temperature is around 16°C, which allows its organoleptic qualities to be fully appreciated.
