Description
Matsu El Pícaro is a red wine produced by Bodega Matsu, in the D.O. Toro. This wine stands out for its youth and its bold character. It is produced from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, selected from old vineyards with low production, settled in sandy soils with a high component of granitic stones.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand between mid-September and early October. The winemaking process includes spontaneous fermentation in 15,000 kg concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, at a temperature of no more than 24ºC. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the same tanks. Matsu El Pícaro is aged for two months on its lees in concrete tanks, which helps to preserve its natural characteristics.
Taste
On the nose, Matsu El Pícaro is distinguished by its intense aromas of fruits such as blackberries and raspberries, accompanied by spicy notes and a touch of liquorice that adds complexity. Being a young wine, its purplish colour with great depth perfectly reflects this stage of its life. On the palate, this wine offers a powerful and intense experience, with a sweet and pleasant entry. Its flavour lingers on the palate, leaving a lasting impression that highlights its bold and lively character.
