Description
From Arbois, in the Jura, Alice Bouvot grows wines like someone who writes poetry with the earth. Her project, L'Octavin, was born of a clear philosophy: minimum intervention, maximum expression. With L'Octavin Ivre de Vivre, she wanted to pay tribute to the vitality of Viognier, a grape that is often tamed, but which here is allowed to speak freely. The grapes come from the south of Beaujolais, grown by Jean-François Debourg and harvested by hand, without artifice. No corrections, no sulphites, no masks. Just living fruit and bottled truth.
Winemaking
The Viognier grapes used in L'Octavin Ivre de Vivre are pressed directly, respecting their aromatic purity. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, guided by indigenous yeasts that reflect the character of the terroir. The wine then rests for nine months in concrete tanks, where it acquires structure without losing freshness. There is no filtration or fining. No chaptalisation. The result is a sincere expression, without make-up or touch-ups.
Taste
L'Octavin Ivre de Vivre displays a contagious energy. The nose opens with notes of mandarin peel, lychee, ripe pineapple and a subtle floral breeze. There is a hint of yeast, like artisan bread, and a slightly oxidative background that adds depth without heaviness. On the palate, the wine is agile, with a lively, precise acidity that keeps it always on the move. Fine salinity, citrus notes (grapefruit, lemon peel), and a texture reminiscent of wet stone: tension and caress at the same time.
L'Octavin Ivre de Vivre is not just a natural wine. It is a manifesto. A celebration of the spontaneous, of the imperfect, of what breathes. For those who enjoy risk, the wildly honest, that which does not need permission to be extraordinary.
