Description
F de Fuentespina is a 100% Tempranillo wine made from a selection of the oldest vineyards in Ribera del Duero, owned by the Avelino Vegas winery, founded in 1950. The vineyards, nearly a century old, are located between Peñafiel and Pesquera del Duero, on mainly clay and limestone soils, ideal for the production of high quality wines.
Winemaking
The elaboration of F de Fuentespina begins with a pellicular maceration at low temperature to extract the maximum aromas. Subsequently, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at 25ºC for 7 to 10 days, with an additional maceration for a higher concentration of tannins. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 14 months in new French oak barrels and remains in the bottle for a further two years before being released onto the market.
Taste
F de Fuentespina is characterised by its intensity and structure. On the nose, it presents great elegance, with spicy and mineral notes on a background of black fruits such as plums and sultanas. On the palate, it is a full, powerful and very concentrated wine, with tannins present but well polished, offering a fat and round texture. The finish is long, leaving a sensation of fullness and complexity. It is ideal for pairing with red meats, game, lamb and cured cheeses, especially when served at a temperature of between 17 and 18ºC.
