Espenyalluchs 2020

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I tasted the 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages of the three white wines produced here. The 2020 Espenyalluchs comes from a 0.98-hectare vineyard planted with Xarel.lo grapes in 2011 on stony soils on a slope at 400 meters in altitude. It fermented in used 300-liter French barriques with indigenous yeasts and was bottled after around eight months in barrel. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.20 and 5.9 grams of acidity (tartaric). This is the more approachable of the three vintages, with a hint of caramel and even red translucent berries, a rounder wine with a gentle palate, still very fresh and harmonious. 2,150 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021.
