Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The profile of the single vineyards is very similar, and the character from the different places is made quite homogeneous through high ripeness and too much oak. The 2021 Celia was produced in a similar way to the Inés, with fermentation in open-top 400-liter barrel and 2,000-liter concrete vats and matured in 400-liter French and American (10%) oak barrels and a further four to five months in a 2,000-liter oak vat. The result is marked by the very high ripeness, reflected by the 15.3% alcohol in the wine, and the generous oak that takes over the aromas and flavors. For fans of the style. 2,000 bottles and 65 magnums produced. It was bottled in April 2024. It's 94% Tinto Fino and 6% Garnacha, but again, it doesn't really make much difference.

Features

Description

Celia Vizcarra is a mature red wine made mainly with Tempranillo and complemented with a small amount of red Garnacha by the Bodegas Vizcarra winery under the Ribera del Duero appellation.
The Tempranillo grapes come from a vineyard over 60 years old planted in goblet and trellised vines.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery in 15 kg containers, where they are selected on the table and destemmed prior to fermentation for twenty-five days in new 400 litre open barrels, with three daily punching downs at a temperature of 27 ºC in order to extract as much of the grapes as possible.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in American oak barrels. Finally, the wine is aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels.

Taste

Celia Vizcarra is a red wine with intense, persistent aromas, a good amount of fruit and spicy notes.
In the mouth it is fresh, ample and enveloping, with sophisticated and elegant tannins, a refreshing acidity and a very long and persistent finish.

A complex and elegant red wine

Celia Vizcarra is one of the most exclusive wines from a very selective and well-designed winery, a truly exclusive Ribera wine!
This red wine that bears a woman's name owes its name to the first daughter of Juan Carlos Vizcarra, founder of Bodegas Vizcarra, a passionate wine lover who decided to follow in his family's footsteps.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for dinners with friends or as a gift and as an accompaniment to beef, game, roasted red meats, big game, roasts and acorn-fed Iberian ham, among others.
