The white 2022 La Vizcaína La del Vivo comes from vines they own, all fermented without temperature control and never racked. It has a serious and austere nose that makes me think of a cooler year. There is good ripeness, and the wine achieved 13.5% alcohol but has very good freshness and acidity. It has notes of white flowers, fruit, spices and herbs and is complex, nuanced and elegant. It has a chalky palate with very fresh and clean flavors. It matured in 1,000-, 1,500- and 4,000-liter oak vats. Some 10,000 bottles produced.

Description
La del Vivo is a D.O. Bierzo white wine made from Godello and Doña Blanca grapes by Raúl Pérez and his nephew César Márquez with the Bodega La Vizcaína de Vinos in the D.O. Bierzo in Castilla y León, Spain.
The grapes used come from vineyards planted on clay soils in Valtuille de Abajo, in the Bierzo region.
Winemaking
This is a white wine vinified with the stalk that supports the set of grapes that form a bunch of grapes and with a subsequent ageing of 12 months in French oak barrels of different capacities. A part of this coupage of Godello and Doña Blanca is fermented in clay amphorae, giving it agility and a charming rusticity. Subsequently, it is bottled without fining.
Taste
La del Vivo is an elegant, well-balanced white wine with a certain mineral touch. It is very expressive and ample, spirited, with a long, fruity finish and a medium-high level of acidity.
