The saturated, dark ruby-colored 1998 Vin de Pays de l'Herault (red) bursts from the glass with candied red and black fruits. It is a powerful, medium to full-bodied wine with oodles of blackberries, cherries, currants, and spices that conquer the palate and seemingly never dissipate. Superbly pure, detailed and possessing loads of exquisitely ripened tannin, this is a wine that can be consumed in its youth or cellared for over a decade. Anticipated maturity; now-2015.
