The 2017 Terrazas de Serapia comes from a number of old vineyards in different villages, Navarrevisca and Navatalgordo in Ávila. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts and the wine matured in a used oak vat, demi-muids and well-seasoned barriques for eight months without racking. Despite the earlier harvest, this is almost 15% alcohol. It had some off aromas and an oxidative and ripe profile I was not expecting here. The palate is better, but there are some rustic tannins and an earthy sensation. A bit of a question mark today. 4,720 bottles were filled in June 2016.
