Description

In the peaceful village of Gueberschwihr, south of Colmar, lies the Grand Cru Goldert, a gently sloping, east-facing hillside, unique in Alsace for its marine-derived oolitic limestone soil. This late-ripening terroir, with little exposure to direct sunlight, is ideal for preserving the freshness and aromatic elegance of Gewürztraminer, a variety that here achieves a refined expression, with structure and a restrained but complex bouquet.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand with a rigorous selection of bunches. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts develops rapidly, preserving a vibrant energy. Aged on the lees in large traditional foudres, Zind Humbrecht Gewürztraminer Goldert Grand Cru is bottled with minimal intervention to express the purity of the vineyard.

Taste

From the first moment, Zind-Humbrecht Gewürztraminer Goldert Grand Cru seduces with aromas of pink grapefruit, cider, kumquat and bitter orange peel. Floral notes of rose and Muscat grapes then emerge, followed by spicy hints of ginger, mild curry and blond tobacco. The palate is unctuous but agile, with a marked salinity and a mineral background reminiscent of crushed stone. The tension between sweetness and freshness is precise, and the finish lengthens with delicate bitterness and citrus echoes. A Gewürztraminer of rare nobility, exuberant but disciplined, where the strength of the terroir imposes its character on the variety. Ideal for pairing with spicy Asian cuisine or washed rind cheeses.
