Buy Wine from Denavolo
The Denavolo winery is located in the province of Piacenza, in the north-western part of Emilia Romagna, on the hills that divide the Trebbia Valley from the Nure Valley, two tributary rivers of the Po. This winery was established in 2005 and produces local and traditional wines. It is a small family estate located in the great Po plain, with a continental climate, warm in summer and cold in winter.
Giulio Armani is the winemaker behind Denavolo.
Vineyards
Denavolo's vineyards are located between 350 and 450 metres on calcareous and clay soils. Other plots are located between 500 and 700 metres on stony and calcareous soils. The oldest vines were planted in 1975. In total, the winery has 5 hectares under cultivation. The grape varieties include Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo, Marsanne, Trebbiano, Santa Maria and Sauvignon Blanc. The altitude, the steep slopes, the southern exposure, the ventilation and the strong thermal gaps contribute to the airy, healthy and ripe grapes.
Philosophy
Denavolo focuses on producing wines that express their terroir and vintage. The wines are considered orange wines, as they are the result of a long maceration of the must with the skins. This technique is due to a very low grape/must ratio which is balanced by a long contact time ranging from 4 to 7 months. Denavolo wines have no added sulphites, are not clarified, filtered or processed. They have an amber colour, acidity and a tannic, tasty and dry mouthfeel, but, above all, they have a great personality.
