Buy Wine from Adegas Pazo de Lusco
Adega Pazos de Lusco is a winery placed in Salvateña do Miño, within the D.O. Rías Baixas, and more precisely in a sub zone called Condado do Tea, at the south east of the appellation, bordering with Portugal, whose main features are the many valleys surrounding Miño River. Granitic and slate soils are prevailing here. This sub zone extends from Tui up to D.O. Ribeiro.
The winery was founded in 1996 by Classical Wines From Spain company but nowadays it belongs to Dominio de Tares group. Adega Pazos de Lusco is settled in the old wine cellar Pazo Piñeiro, built in the 16th century.
Adega Pazos de Lusco has 6 vineyard hectares of Albariño planted in the traditional pergola system so typical in this area; plots start in the mountain and go up to the right bank of Miño. They are cultivated individually and the winery has 6 manors with independent terroirs where the common point is the reasonable treatment of the land and the environmental respect along with the minimal intervention principle.
The process continues always with ageing on fine lees in stainless steel vats. The winery's calling card is Zíos de Lusco, produced with grapes from As Neves area, with good intensity and granitic component. The second wine is Lusco, with grapes from over 25 years old in average vines grown in Pazo Piñeiro, here the performance is not over 4.500kg per hectare; its crumbled granite soils allow good water drainage. Finally, and flagship of Adega Pazos de Lusco, Pazo Piñeiro, a wine obtained from 1.5 hectares only within the Pazo Piñeiro parcel, also from deep, granitic soils, with average over 25 years old vineyards and with exceeding mineral and mint scents over fruit flavour, more present in the other wines. It is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months, thus yielding toast and ripened apple bouquet.
The annual production of the winery is 90.000 bottles.
